Our Story

Located near Iola, Boyer’s Lake is a family-built outdoor retreat rooted in tradition, nature, and community. What began as one man’s vision is now being brought back to life as a place where families and friends can slow down, reconnect outdoors, and create lasting memories together.

The lake itself was hand-dug by our grandfather, a hardworking entrepreneur who started as a one-man oil operation before growing his business over the years. After retirement, he poured his time into creating a place where family, friends, and the local community could gather and enjoy the outdoors. Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he personally stocked the lake and hosted local fishing derbies that became lasting memories for many families in the area.

The property was also known for its unique character and sense of adventure. Over the years, our grandfather cared for a variety of exotic animals on the land, including ostriches, parrots, and even a zebra donkey — all part of his passion for sharing memorable experiences with others.

After his passing in 2002, the property sat quiet for many years. Today, after extensive cleanup and restoration, our family is proud to reopen Boyer’s Lake and continue the tradition he started.

Now reimagined as a peaceful outdoor destination, Boyer’s Lake offers fishing, camping, RV stays, walking trails, and immersive nature experiences. Wildlife remains a major part of the property, with deer, bald eagles, hawks, turtles, nesting geese, and other native wildlife commonly seen throughout the land. The lake is home to Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Blue Catfish, Flathead Catfish, and Black Carp. Whether you’re casting for bass at sunset or spending the evening catfishing with family, Boyer’s Lake offers a classic Kansas outdoor experience.

Our vision is to preserve the history and spirit of Boyer’s Lake while thoughtfully growing it into a family-centered destination with future plans for cabins, outdoor events, and gathering spaces. At Boyer’s Lake, the best memories are often the simplest: quiet mornings on the water, evenings around a campfire, and time outdoors with the people who matter most.
